Elderberries (Sambucus nigra) are mainly used for winter ailments and immune system stimulation. These berries of the Black or European Elder are a low-calorie food packed with vitamin C, dietary fiber and antioxidants.
In many cultures, the elder tree is considered a "sacred" tree. In European folklore, the elder tree was believed to have protective powers and ward off evil. Planting an elder tree in your garden was said to bring good luck and protection.
The elderberries we offer grow wild, in their natural habitat. Their wild growth gives them an intense character and a particularly rich taste and aroma.
Attention for a moment It is best not to consume the dried elderberries raw but always use them in heated applications (decoction). Too many raw elderberries can lead to prussic acid poisoning. Disclaimer
