Preparing straw flower tea organic
Making a tea (or infusion) is an ideal way to benefit from the beneficial effects of organic strawflower. How to easily prepare a cup of healthy straw flower tea organic:- Bring water to a boil. Heat the desired amount of water in a kettle or on the stove to boiling point.
- Place the dried straw flowers in a teapot or mug. Use about 1-2 teaspoons of dried flowers per cup of tea.
- Pour the boiling water over the straw flowers. Carefully pour the boiling water into the teapot or mug so that the flowers are completely submerged.
- Allow the tea to steep. Soak the straw flowers in the hot water for about 5-10 minutes. This gives the active compounds and flavorings time to be released into the water.
- Strain the tea. Use a fine sieve or tea strainer to remove the flowers from the tea as you pour the tea into a cup or teapot. This ensures that you get a clear infusion without flour residue.
Making strawflower oil organic
Making oil from Helichrysum italicum, also known as immortelle or strawflower, can be done through a process called maceration. Here is a general recipe for making Helichrysum oil:
Supplies
- Dried Straw Flower Flowers.
- Vegetable oil (such as olive oil, jojoba oil or almond oil).
- Glass jar with lid.
- Fine sieve or cheesecloth.
- Dark glass bottle for storage.
- Place dried straw flowers in a glass jar and cover completely with the vegetable oil of your choice. Make sure the oil is of good quality and suitable for use on the skin.
- Close the glass jar tightly with the lid and shake the mixture gently to mix the flowers and oil.
- Place the glass jar on a sunny windowsill or in a warm place. Allow the mixture to macerate for about 4-6 weeks. During this period, the essential oils of the flowers will be slowly absorbed into the oil.
- Shake the jar frequently during the maceration period to mix the mixture.
- After the maceration period, strain the oil through a fine sieve or cheesecloth to separate the flowers from the oil. Squeeze the mixture gently to get all the oil out.
- Pour the strained Strawflower Oil into a dark glass bottle for storage. Dark glass protects the oil from light and helps maintain quality.
