Beschrijving
Purple coneflower (Echinacea purpurea) is one of the best-known plants in herbal medicine. The plant originates from North America and has long been used in herbal traditions to support the body, especially during the colder months of the year.
Different parts of the purple coneflower are used, particularly the aerial parts (leaf and flower) and the root. Although both come from the same plant, they have slightly different compositions and are therefore used in different ways.
Difference between purple coneflower (herb) and purple coneflower root Organic
The aerial herb of purple coneflower is often used in herbal teas and in milder herbal blends. Traditionally it is used for gentle, preventive support of the immune system, for example during autumn and winter.
The root of purple coneflower generally contains higher concentrations of certain bioactive compounds. For that reason, in herbal medicine it is often used more specifically and for shorter periods, for example when the body may benefit from additional support or at the first signs of reduced resistance.

For roots, a decoction is traditionally used. By briefly boiling the root, the active compounds are better released.
How to prepare one cup:
- 2 teaspoons of root per cup of water
- Place in cold water
- Bring to a boil
- Let simmer gently for 15–30 minutes
- Then strain
Drink 2–3 cups per day, preferably between meals.
For a course, it is often recommended to use it for about three weeks, followed by a break of several weeks.
Sustainable packaging
Our herbs are packaged in resealable pouches that protect against light, air and moisture so that aroma, quality and effectiveness are optimally preserved.
The pouches are made of paper with a compostable protective layer and are industrially compostable. In many municipalities they can be disposed of with organic waste. Home composting is also possible, although it may take a bit longer (around 1–2 years).
Please note
Purple coneflower is not recommended for progressive systemic and autoimmune diseases, such as tuberculosis, multiple sclerosis or certain connective tissue disorders, according to the German Commission E. Use is also discouraged in cases of HIV/AIDS. If in doubt, always consult a physician or qualified therapist.
