Beschrijving
Milk thistle or Silybum marianum, the seeds are mainly used for a positive effect on liver. This beautiful spiny plant has striking purple flowers and white veins on the leaves. That white mark was caused, according to traditional stories, by a drop of the Virgin Mary's milk during the flight to Egypt. Milk thistle is certainly also a beautiful plant in the garden, without the danger of spreading further in abundance.
