Beschrijving
Shepherd’s Purse (Capsella bursa-pastoris) is a native plant of Europe and Asia that has been valued for centuries in traditional medicine. It grows in open areas, along roadsides, fields, and wasteland, and is a true survivor. The plant thrives in poor soils and temperate climates. The name “Shepherd’s Purse” comes from its heart-shaped seed pods, which resemble the little purses once carried by shepherds. During World War I, it was a popular substitute for medicines because of its blood-staunching properties. Shepherd’s Purse is known for its beneficial effects on blood circulation. Traditionally, it has been used to help stop minor bleeding and to support a normal menstrual cycle. In addition, it is often used to aid digestion.
