Ingredients
- 750 ml rode wijn (Montepulciano of Garnacha)
- 3 - 4 sinaasappelschijfjes
- 2 kaneelstokken
- 4 kruidnagels
- 2 steranijs
- 2 el rietsuiker of honing
- 50 ml rum of cognac
Cook Time
-
1Pour the wine, orange slices and all spices into a large saucepan.
-
2Heat everything on low heat. Let the wine warm gently to about 70°C: warm enough to release the aromas, but not boiling, because at higher temperatures the alcohol evaporates and the flavors become flat.
-
3Add the sugar or honey and stir until completely dissolved.
-
4Let the glühwein steep for 10 minutes on the lowest heat, without boiling.
-
5Pour through a sieve into preheated glasses or mugs. Optionally place a fresh orange slice in the glass as a finishing touch.
