Description
Chasteberry (Vitex agnus castus) is native to countries around the Mediterranean and has been used as a women’s herb for thousands of years. It is a plant that acts on hormonal balance and can be used for conditions such as abnormal menstrual cycles and premenstrual complaints. Chasteberry is sometimes called Monk’s pepper because the berry resembles the “real” peppercorns. It also has the name monk in it because in the Middle Ages the berries were widely used by monks to flavor their food.
The chasteberry we offer grows wild, in its natural habitat. Its wild growth gives it an intense character and a particularly rich taste and aroma.

Sustainable Packaging
Our herbs are packaged in resealable pouches that protect against light, air, and moisture, helping to preserve their aroma, quality, and properties as well as possible. The pouches are made of paper with a compostable protective layer and are industrially compostable. In many municipalities, they can be disposed of with organic waste. Home composting is also possible, although it may take a bit longer (about 1–2 years). More information about our packaging choice.
