Description
Cornflower hydrosol is an exceptionally gentle floral water with a fresh, floral scent. It is obtained through steam distillation of the flower tops of Centaurea cyanus, a plant known for its deep purple to bluish blooms — the iconic “cornflower blue.” Thanks to its mild composition, this hydrosol is ideal for caring for sensitive skin and the delicate eye area.
This hydrosol comes from L’Âme des Simples, a small-scale organic herb farm in the Drôme Valley (France).
They work according to age-old artisanal traditions: the plants are hand-grown, hand-harvested, and then slowly distilled in a traditional copper still over a wood fire. This slow distillation (about four hours for 25 liters) contrasts sharply with the rapid, large-scale production methods of commercial companies. Because the entire process is gentle and non-invasive, the plant has ample time to fully release its fragrance, active compounds, and essence.
